Despacito is a hit song from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi along with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It went on to become the most streamed song at the time within six month. The single Despacito which was a mix of pop music with reggaeton, not only brought new interest to reggaeton but also increased interest in Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 had four songs mostly in Spanish by 2016 compared to two in 2015. During the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017 however 19 predominantly Spanish songs made it into the Top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 songs. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017. In the year following, popular artists began working with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny for the production of MIA (2018) and Madonna worked on Medellin with Maluma (2019). Certain reggaeton performers have criticized the shift to popular music by 2020. But a new group, Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the growth and evolution of reggaeton. The genre often incorporated electronic dance and other types.
